Although the weather was not completely co-operative we were able to visit the remote Glover’s Atoll for a day and dove 2 notable sites. It is just over 30 nautical miles from Placencia, half of which is beyond the reef.
Our first site was South West Wall which had abundant fish life and large sponges. Our second site situated in much the same area was the Pinnacles as both of these sites are more protected from the surge of the Caribbean Sea which was about 8-10 feet on the North side of the reef. We were already at Hatchet Caye (where the dive operation is) and the seas were just as high between Glover’s and Hatchet Caye which made for an interesting boat ride, but the captain, who also had some local n notoriety was excellent and made the ride as fast and smooth as possible. Our divemaster Eyanick was very smooth and helpful. The operation was Pirate Reef Divers, which was expensive but on par with this areas pricing as far as I had researched and had excellent equipment. The had 3x 200hp outboards, relatively new gear and we were able to use the freshwater pool and showers after on Hatchet Caye.
